Fog, Spiders, and a Slug

We had a moderately foggy day for this hike, which obscured the panoramic view of multiple mountain peaks at the top, but at least it didn't rain.

This spider web was pretty, but in an awkward position to photograph.

There's a web you don't want to do a face-plant in.

The sun made a brief appearance.

Scattered wildflowers provided spots of bright color.

I popped into the Oregon Berry Festival the other day. The berries were fabulous. I took some pictures, but I can tell from them that I am not comfortable shooting in a crowd.

This is one of my all-time favorite waterfalls in the area. I carted out my tripod this year, but in the end, I think I prefer the photos I took last year with my camera balanced on rocks and logs. I certainly prefer hiking without my tripod.

Tripod, 21mm, f/10, 4.0 sec, 100 ISO

I do like the angle on this one, but my lens was covered in spray from the falls (which I neglected to attach importance to at the time), and I don't like the fact that I know I can see the water-spotted effect in the image. Next time...

Tripod, 17mm, f/10, 2.0 sec, 200 ISO

The center part of the falls, with the mossy rocks and stream leaving the area, is my favorite part.

This shot gives a nice sense of scale.

I'm including this shot of Mt Hood just because; I don't really like it.

Old Hikes, Top 10

I've had the chance to take a few fun hikes this past week, and while I haven't had a chance to go through my new pictures, walking down familiar paths has made me think about some photos I've taken in the past that I really like. So...Here's a quick Top 10 of Past Hikes Close to Home. All of these were taken with my Sony Point-n-Shoot, and none have been through any kind of photoshoppy stuff.

after a Long Week

One of the nice things about going out with a photo-friend is that you don't have to apologize about getting out your camera--- hers is already out! Relax...I used my tiny point-n-shoot for these. No, I didn't care what my fellow diners thought. Yes, I know it is dumb, but the drinks were so pretty! No, these drinks were not all mine. Yes, we had a blast!
