The Dog Days of Summer

I have no idea what "the Dog Days of Summer" are; I've always figured they were hot summer days when not much was accomplished. This past weekend I was as lazy as possible (although, aren't cats lazier than dogs??), and I sat around in the first heat we've really had this summer as if I'd endured months of unrelenting heat and had finally capitulated to the sweltering weather until a cool breeze (or beverage) could arrive to save me. My pictures from the weekend coincidentally are 2 quintessential late summer objects: Watermelon and Sunflowers. Both can be enjoyed from a chair in the shade.

[PS: I Googled "Dog Days" and now am fully educated as to the origins of the phrase.]
