Dinosaur Egg

I wish the Easter Bunny had left me an egg like this; Geodes are beautiful. All of these pictures were taken using only natural light from a window.

The sun popped out from behind the clouds momentarily, and the light hit just at the right angle and intensity to create this amazing azure.

Bee Festival

I saw something today that I really didn't like at all...and I took pictures. Can you see all the bees in the picture below? There must have been thousands of bees in this one yard, and only in this one yard, as if contained by an invisible fence. It is possible that I will have nightmares tonight.

100mm, f/4.5, 1/500, 200 ISO [Day 19/366]

The bees were popping in and out of little holes they'd made in the ground.

100mm, f/6.3, 1/320, 500 ISO [Day 19/366]

I was told that these bees do not sting, but that is of little reassurance when they are incessantly buzzing about, stopping only momentarily to crawl on vegetation or pop back into one of their holes.

100mm, f/6.3, 1/250, 500 ISO [Day 19/366]

I did not get stung.

Tulip Overload

I was crazy enough to go to a tulip festival at sunrise today. The only people in attendance at that time were clutching cameras, and contentedly clicking away. I had a hard time being creative at such an early hour, but overall, I'm happy with what I came home with.

The wide angle part of my brain doesn't function well, especially when weary, so I gave up that lens quickly. But look at all the MUD!

There was a hot-air balloon launched, which I kind of ignored. I'd hoped it would float over the flowers, but it did not while I was watching.
