Daffy Nest

I don't know much about plants, but my guess is that these Daffodils did not self-seed up in this tree.

I am not sure how old Grover is, but he was stored along with toys from my childhood at my parents' house. He has seen much love in his lifetime, and continues to garner more today.

State of the Grapes

This plant sustained some unfortunate damage last summer, but it looks like it is not only going to survive, but it is going to bloom this year. Perhaps in time the leaves will recover their former dark green luster as well.

The Saga Continues

I only got 2 inches of root; I'm sure this one will be back.

Fancy New Lens

This lens is quite affordable, and is widely available in toy stores across the country. While it does darken an image considerably, the effect is quite interesting. It is fun to play with...for all ages!

Back in Town

With "spring," there's been a bunch of birds abounding. This is a Starling at our neighbor's bird feeder. I had to crop way in (about 1:1), as my longest lens is clearly not a bird lens.

a beautiful day in the Neighborhood

We have several neighbors who do a great job of growing fascinating flowers.

This flower was so dark purple it almost looked black.

These guys really caught my eye in the setting sun. This caught my eye when I googled it: skin and eye irritant/toxic if eaten.

I really like the purple and white on these flowers; This one struck me as fiery.

Finally, after 40 years, a pen that takes Left-handers into account.

Oil and Water

I did another oil and water experiment. Yes, there will be a third try one day, and my plan is to use a tripod for that go-around. Again, I did not alter the colors.

Full Moon

I guess the Moon was closer to the Earth last night than it normally is. By the time I had access to my camera, I had run out of any ambition to do anything but get a straight shot of the moon. There were some cool cloud patterns around the moon about 30 minutes before I took this picture, but alas, they all dissipated, and I was left with a boring black sky...with a full moon in it.

Cheery Cherry

I really like Cherry Blossoms. I guess this one is technically a plum tree, but the common name is "cherry-plum", so perhaps I can be forgiven for calling it a cherry. Look at all I am learning from this blog!

Ugly, x2

I've been quite negligent, and haven't gotten around to uprooting this stupid dandelion yet. This bug is less gross that the fly I caught the other day. I wouldn't have minded trying to get a little closer to it, but I did not get the chance.

Photo Date

I had a friend over and we took some oil and water pictures; It was an interesting process, and clearly, I had trouble narrowing down my favorites. I did not alter the colors in post-processing. Here's a link to the rough guideline that we used. We neglected to use a tripod, but some of the shots turned out alright anyhow.

Liquid Sunshine

My plan today was to walk by X garden at Y time and to have the rain magically stop so I could putter around with my camera. I expected the rain to abate at the appointed time, and it did. I could have spent hours in the garden...if only I had hours to spare; fifteen minutes had to suffice.

Green and Flowers

I've been driving by these plants every day this week. I keep thinking that they look unattractive, but yet I notice the bright yellow tops in a nice contrast to the darker green leaves, and that makes me not quite forget about them. Today I stopped to actually look at them, and they turned out to be much more appealing up close.
